Fafner in the Azure

"Are you there?"

In a corner of Japan, a peaceful and quiet island, with an expansive blue sky, an azure ocean as far as the eye can see...
To the teenagers, today should be just like any other day.

"Are you there?"

One day, the teenagers suddenly receive this message.
Upon replying, "Yes", a ray of light splits the blue sky.
The light is brilliant, but it is a ray of war that leads to a brutal reality.

The sudden appearance of the enemy. A sudden hit of reality.
The immense effect of the giant tidal wave.

For his survival, how should a person respond?

Teenager Makabe Kazuki -- for survival, -- jumps into the Fafner.

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

The city of Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture is the inspiration for the stage of the anime, Tatsumiya Island. With streetscapes composed of hilly slopes, narrow alleyways, stone walls, and endless traditional Japanese houses, visitors may feel a sense of nostalgia and a longing for the past. From the observatory at the top of the hill in Senkouji Park, the landmark of the city, you can see the "Onomichi Channel", a narrow waterway between the streets of Onomichi and Mukai Island across the water. In addition, connecting Onomichi with Imabari in Ehime Prefecture of Shikoku Island is the Setouchi Shimanami Kaido Expressway, one of the world's top long-distance cycling routes.
