GIRLY AIRFORCE

This story is situated on the Earth, exposed to threats from an unidentified flying object called “Zai,” which appeared  all of a sudden. The earth forces, to counteract Zai, developed “Daughters,” an enhanced version of existing jet fighters, as well as “Anima,” an artificial life form in the shape of a human girl. Now, Kei Narutani, who fled to Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture from Zai’s assaults on hishometown, met with “Gripen,” an Anima who flew a scarlet Daughter. Kei, himself long yearning to fly, soon fought Zai together with Gripen.

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

Komatsu City located in the southern part of Ishikawa Prefecture, facing the Japan Sea, has various spots such as the JASDF Komatsu Airbase, which was also used as a setting for the anime, the "Ishikawa Prefectural Aviation Plaza,” which is the only aviation museum on the Japan Sea side, and the “Motorcar Museum of Japan,” and the city is famous as a vehicle town. The city also has tourist spots such as streets that remind us of the good old days, “Nata Temple,” which is a stronghold for Hakusan worship, and “Awazu Onsen” founded over 1300 years ago. “Uhashi Shrine” (photo) depicted in the anime is a more than 1300-year-old shrine with a long and distinguished history, and is affectionately known as “Osuwa-san” by local people. A spring festival held in May has a history of more than 350 years, and is called “Otabi Matsuri (Traveling Festival)” since it appears as if the portable shrine with a god on it were traveling around the city. During the festival, such events as the Hikiyama Children Kabuki performance and Hikiyama Hakki Hikizoroe (Event of Eight Festive Aligned Stages) are held.
