Nakamura Teruaki, TēRū, who has transferred to a school in Okinawa, falls in love with his classmate Kyan Hina, HīNā.
Contrary to his expectation of a dreamy high school life, however, he cannot understand her Uchinaaguchi, an Okinawan dialect that she speaks just like a local in their seventies.
Higa Kana, KāNā, interprets what HīNā says for TēRū as needed, but actually, KāNā has one-sided feelings for TēRū and wants to get closer to him, although she acts cool in front of him.
For instance, when TēRū calls out ‘Higa-san!’ on his way to school, every single ‘Higa’ in the area snaps their head around at once, On this southern island so very different from Tokyo, a slightly strange, cross-cultural romance blossoms!
The opening theme song “Dai Dai Daisuki” performed by the Okinawa-band HY from Uruma City (the setting for the anime), features an upbeat melody played on the Sanshin. It blends Okinawa’s traditional instrument with a rock’n’-roll energy to create a cute, but slightly bittersweet, atmosphere.
It is one of the hottest coming-of-age anime songs.

Takamimi Shrine, which has a history of over 400 years since the Edo period, is situated in Tsukishima, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. The deity enshrined there is an elf who was summoned from another world and has become a complete recluse.

The elf deity, Elda, is served by Koito Koganei, the 15th generation shrine maiden of Takamimi Shrine. While being swept along by Elda, who enjoys modern civilization and geeky hobbies, she is thrilled by the Edo culture she learns about from her, and is warmed by the unbroken chain of connections between the people of Tsukishima and Elda. But this elf is still too lazy! What’s more, an elf and shrine maiden duo from another shrine even appears…?

A laid-back downtown comedy that connects Edo and the new era of Reiwa is about to begin.

Omochanomachi Bandai Museum

This museum opened in 2007, exhibiting collections inherited from the shuttered BANDAI Museum in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, and the World Toy Museum in Karuizawa of Kitasaku District in Nagano Prefecture. It consists of four themed museums: “Japan Toy”, “World Toy”, “Edison” (Inventions), and “Hobby” (Gundam). The collections range from classic toys made of chogokin die-cast metal to a 1:1 scale Gundam statue (upper body only). Speaking of a 1:1 scale Gundam, the one installed at Odaiba was a great hit, but in fact the very first 1:1 scale Gundam RX-78 was the one in the BANDAI Museum. Moreover, the “Town of Toys” was the birthplace of robot character toys with complicated mechanisms for shape transformation and integration, fascinating children all over Japan and still attracting many toy fans to visit. It is an appealing way to learn about a part of Japan and world cultural history through toys.
