Anohana:The Flower We Saw That Day

With the Arakawa River and Chichibu Basin at its heart, Chichibu in Saitama Prefecture is a region surrounded by verdant greenery, and there is plenty worth seeing. The former Chichibu Bridge (as pictured), which appears in the title, is only ten minutes by foot away from Onohara Station on the Chichibu Railway. Since it is a distance away from the city, visitors are advised to check the train schedule before visiting. When visiting Chichibu, there are many festivals worth attending, such as the Chichibu Yomatsuri (Night Festival) and the Ryusei Matsuri, as well as many historical sites worth visiting, such as the Chichibu Shrine, the Mitsumine Shrine, and the Wado Ruins. Be surrounded by the wonders of nature as the seasons change: in springtime at Hitsujiyama Park, see pink moss and weeping cherry trees; in the summer, play in the streams and be mesmerized by the glow of fireflies; in the fall, enjoy the red leaves; and in the winter, marvel at icicles. Handmade soba noodles and a local cuisine called “kojyuuhan” are also appetizing delicacies.
