Sightseeing Spot in This Area

To those coming to Nagoya for the first time, Nagoya Castle (as pictured) — famous for the golden shachihoko sculptures that cap its roof — and Atsuta Shrine are recommended sightseeing spots. But Nagoya is also a city famous across Japan for its number of local delicacies (Nagoya meshi), priding itself on a countless number of dishes, including: Nagoya cochin chicken, kishimen flat noodles, pork cutlet with thick miso sauce, fried shrimp, hitsumabushi grilled eel on rice, tenmusu tempura rice balls, misonikomi udon noodles in miso broth, ogura red bean paste on toast, and many more. For another kind of excitement, catch a baseball game at the Nagoya Dome, home to the professional team Chunichi Dragons.
