Inari Konkon Koi Iroha

This is a romantic comedy about a high school student named Fushimi Inari who acquires supernatural powers of transformation at will after meeting the Inari deity, Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami. Known as “Uka”, the deity is the main deity of Fushimi Inari-taisha. While in the anime she is worshipped at “Inari Shrine”, the shrine is modeled after the real-life Fushimi Inari-taisha. Moreover, the family names of the characters in the story are based on locales in Kyoto, such as “Fushimi”, “Tanbabashi”, “Sanjo”, “Marutamachi”, and “Sumizome”.

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

There are many famous shrines and temples in Kyoto. A landmark location from the anime is the main shrine of the 30,000-temple strong Inari deity, Fushimi Inari-taisha (as pictured). It is famous for its “Senbon Torii”, which consists of thousands of vermillion torii gates lining up the main path and is a popular photo shooting spot for visitors. Sekihoji Temple, a temple located near Fushimi Inari-taisha, was the home of Edo-period painter Ito Jyakuchu, late in his life. The 500 Rakan stone statues in the groves behind the temple are said to be based on his sketches.
