Sightseeing Spot in This Area

Okayama City is nationally famous for the legend of Momotaro, including the Momotaro statue that appeared in “If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die”, but there are also many historical sightseeing spots, and Okayama Castle is one that should not be missed. The castle was built with reference to Azuchi-Momoyama Castle and is regarded as a forerunner of early modern castles. Its asymmetrical pentagonal tower is unique in Japan. After major renovations in November 2022, the castle reopened, and the black outer walls, which gave the castle its name of “Ujo” (Crow Castle), were restored, making it a castle well worth seeing.
