Having had a bitter experience in the past due to his deductive activities, which he called “intellectual work,” Kobato has decided to become a pure, modest small citizen. He secretly

forms a “mutually beneficial relationship” with his classmate Osanai, who shared the same aspirations, and plans to make his high school debut as a little citizen and live a peaceful life.

However, for some reason, their school life is filled with a series of unexplainable incidents and mishaps.

Will Kobato and Osanai be able to live out their peaceful days as little citizens?

This is the first anime adaptation of the very popular mystery novel series “Shoshimin,” which has sold more than 1.1 million copies in total, created by Naoki Prize-winning author Honobu Yonezawa, a native of Gifu Prefecture, and the author of “Hyouka” and other “Classic Club” works. Director Mamoru Kanbe and other talented staff members gathered under the direction of Lapin Track, the production studio behind “Sarazanmai” and “Undead Girl Murder Farce,” to create this sweet and slightly bitter school mystery based on the city of Gifu.

The second season is scheduled to air in April 2025.
