Sightseeing Spot in This Area

Hita City is blessed with the many rivers that flow into it, and thanks to its excellent water quality, it is called “Suigo” (the water country). Symbolic of this is the Mikuma River, which runs east-west through the city centre. The Yakatabune, a Japanese-style roofed boat with a tatami room, takes you out on the Mikuma River to view cormorant fishing in summer, and the harvest moon in autumn. The riverside is also lined with hot-spring inns, which can be enjoyed in addition to the hot-spring baths.
