GO NAGAI Wonderland Museum

*Closed due to damage from the “2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake”. Details will be posted on this page as soon as they become available. Go Nagai was a master of Japanese manga, known for works such as “Mazinger Z“, “Devilman” and “Cutie Honey“. The museum opened in 2009 in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, his hometown, and was damaged in the “2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake” on January 1, 2024, just before its 15th anniversary. As of March 2025, no prospects have been announced for the future, but the Anime Tourism Association hopes for the recovery of the GO NAGAI Wonderland Museum, as well as Wajima City and other parts of Ishikawa Prefecture, and will continue to introduce it in “88 Sacred Anime Sites in Japan you should visit, 2025 Edition”. *The photo on the right was taken before the earthquake.

Wajima of Ishikawa Prefecture is famous for a kind of Japanese lacquerware called “wajima-nuri”. A morning market with a history of more than 1000 years, the Asaichi-dori Morning Market (as pictured) is a 360-meter-long street lined with approximately 200 stalls, where items from freshly-caught Wajima seafood and local artwork such as Japanese lacquerware can be bought. In addition, the Shiroyone Senmaida terraced paddy fields at Shiroyone, with its beautiful rural scenery, ranks as one of “Japan’s Top 100 Terraced Rice Paddies”, is designated a national cultural heritage, and is one of the top sightseeting spots in the Oku-Noto region.
