HIGH SCHOOL FLEET

Japan has lost most of its land due to land submergence, but this caused marine traffic to thrive. Aspiring to be a Blue Mermaid — protectors of the seas — Akeno Misaki attends Yokosuka Girls Marine High School with her childhood friend, Moeka China. Soon after school starts, Akeno is nominated to be the captain of the Kagerou-class nautical training ship Harekaze. Akeno, together with other classmates each with unique personalities, are going to have their first ocean-sailing exercise… With the vast ocean as its stage, this is a teen school battle story about the friendships and struggles of a group of isolated teenaged girls.

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

During the Russo-Japanese war, the Mikasa of the Imperial Japanese Navy scored a big victory by defeating the Baltic Fleet of the Imperial Russian Navy. Historical information and navy uniforms from the past are now displayed inside the exhibition room of the battleship. Popular facilities like virtual reality and digital screens help the public experience the battle scenes and the structure of the battleship during the war. Now a memorial ship museum, the Mikasa has been fully-restored and anchored at the park named after it: Mikasa Park (as pictured). In the spacious park, visitors can enjoy nature as well as visit various events held there, such as the “Curry Festival”. As the park was the setting for the festival scene in the High School Fleet original video animation (OVA), Mikasa Park has also become an anime pilgrimage site.
