TOEI ANIMATION MUSEUM

Located inside the Toei Oizumi Animation Studio, this animation museum opened in July 2018. On display at the museum are many precious materials used in Toei’s animations, such as storyboards, celluloid pictures, etc. The museum also features gigantic display screens, which let you search for animation works and watch their videos. In the courtyard stands a fountain featuring Pero, a character of “The Wonderful World of Puss’n Boots,” which stands for the whole animations of Toei. Also installed in the courtyard are some blackboards, on which you are invited to make drawings as you like. The museum store carries numerous character items, including some specials that are related to the exhibition held in the Event Space.

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

Nerima City is The birthplace of Japan’s animation. The City has many anime production-related companies. It is like ‘Nerima’ to have spot like “Oizumi Anime Gate,” located on the northern side Oizumi ?gakuen Station, Seibu Ikebukuro line. There stand bronze statues of anime characters related to the City, such as Mighty Atom (Astro Boy) from “ASTRO BOY,” Tetsuro-Hoshino and Maetel from “Galaxy Express 999,” Jo Yabuki from “TOMORROW’S JOE,” and Lum from “Urusei Yatsura.” You can enjoy taking pictures with them. The Gate also features a “Nerima Anime Chronology,” “Graphic Wall,” etc. to let you experience Nerima, truly a City of animations.
