Yu Azuma, a first-year high school student, is living her life by imposing “four principles” on herself in order to “become an idol”:

1) Don’t do social networking.

2) Don’t have a boyfriend.

3) Be unobtrusive at school

4) Make friends with beautiful girls from east, west, north and south.

Yu, who attends Joshuto High School situated in the east of the “Joshu”peninsula, proceeds with her plan to visit high schools in the other three directions, and make friends with cute girls. The idea behind this was to “gather beautiful girls from the four directions to form an idol group.”

Kurumi Taiga, a second-year student at Nishi Techno Technical Junior College is a “star of the west” aiming to win the National College of Technology Robotics Contest.

Ranko Katori, a second-year student at Seinan Teneritas Jogakuin is a “star of the south” who yearns to be a butterfly lady.

Mika Kamei, a “star of the north,” is a first-year student at Joshukita High School, and a volunteer.

With the support of Shinji Kudo, a high school boy who learns of Yu’s plan and cooperates with her, Yu becomes friends with the three beautiful girls.

While participating in youth events such as a robotics contest and a culture festival, Yu steadily solidifies the unity of the four “East, West, North and South” members. Meanwhile, the activities of this group of high school girls who assist Shuichi Itami, a volunteer tourist guide, are attracting attention,

Yu and her friends are offered a chance to appear on TV. Also, an encounter with Moeka Koga, an Assistant Director at a program production company, leads to Yu and the other four gradually getting work and becoming known throughout the world.

Finally, the idol debut project of “East, West, North and South” is ready to take off.

However, as Yu continues to climb the steps to her dream, she comes face-to-face with a “big problem.”

An original story by Kazumi Takayama and produced by CloverWorks, this story of youth depicts 10 years in the life of a girl who aspires to become an idol.
