The ULTRAMAN SERIES, which depicts valiant fights of the giant hero “Ultraman,” is the ongoing series that has the history for over half a century since firstly televised in 1966. It begins with the incident where Hayata Shin,
a member of the Science Special Search Party, dies in a crash with a mysterious red orb while patrolling above Ryugamori. The red orb was in fact Ultraman, who had been pursuing a monster from Nebula M78 to Earth.
Ultraman saved Hayata’s life by bonding with him. Since then, Hayata continues his life as a Science Special Search Party member, guarding the secret of his real identity. Whenever the situation became dangerous, he would transform himself into Ultraman to fight against monsters and aliens.

Sukagawa, Fukushima Prefecture is the birthplace of Tsuburaya Eiji, nicknamed the “Father of Special Effects”. On May 5, 2013, the city became a sister city to the “Land of Light, Nebula M78”, the home of Ultraman. Not only would you find a monument in front of Sukagawa JR Station, there are also 11 impressive statues of memorable Ultraman heroes and monsters along Taimatsu Street. Anyone can register themselves as a resident of the virtual city “Sukagawa City M78 City of Light”. Residents can enjoy the privilege of viewing original content, and may be issued an original resident certificate with their address in the City of Light, at designated issuing points in Sukagawa (fees apply).
