Tokorozawa City is popular as a commuter town in Tokyo, with shopping streets and other facilities spreading out around Tokorozawa Station. On the other hand, the city also has a lot of nature, such as the Sayama Hills and Lake Sayama. In 1911, Japan's first airfield, Tokorozawa Airfield, was constructed, so the city is known as the "birthplace of aviation in Japan". In 1978, Tokorozawa Aviation Park opened on the site of the former Tokorozawa Airfield. The park is the largest prefectural park in Japan and has various facilities, including the Aviation Museum and Tokorozawa City Library, where adults and children alike can enjoy themselves all day long.
