Yokote City Masuda Manga Museum

This is the first full-scale museum in Japan on the theme of “original manga drawings”, and in addition to keeping and displaying “original manga drawings” by manga artists from Akita Prefecture and Japan’s leading manga artists, also focusing on its preservation and utilization as it is also a sacred place for “original manga drawings. In the permanent exhibition, you can appreciate original manga drawn by manga artists. There is also a “Manga Repository Exhibition Room” where you can see how original manga are kept, and the “Manga Cafe” where you can enjoy a menu related to manga, The “Manga Library” boasts a collection of more than 25,000 books, and special exhibitions centered on original manga drawings from different perspectives are held at various times.

Located along the drainage basin of Akita Prefecture’s longest river, Omono River, Yokote is blessed with a plentiful and pristine water source, making it a city where you can enjoy rivers, lakes, and hot springs. Wintertime traditions with a history of more than 400 years, such as building kamakura snow huts (as pictured) are still practiced, as are traditional festivals and events throughout the seasons; these are all very well-known. Furthermore, at the all-weather theme park Akita Furusato Village, one can experience the appeal of Akita Prefecture though sight, touch, play, experience, and taste, all in one location.
