Amako Soubei Manga Gallery

“Nintama Rantarō” is the longest-running anime series broadcast on NHK, and has been beloved by generations nationwide. The anime series is based on the manga “Rakudai Ninja Rantaro” by Soubei Amako, a manga artist who was born and has been based in Amagasaki City.
In June 2024, “Amako Soubei Manga Gallery,” in which the original drawings of “Rakudai Ninja Rantaro” and other artwork are displayed, was opened in Amagasaki City Hall, Kaimei Branch Office. It is the first place in Japan to permanently exhibit the original drawings by Soubei Amako. The small yet distinct gallery has an exhibit area which recreates “Ninjutsu Gakuen” by making use of the structural elements of a former elementary school, a stand (shop), and a place of interaction for fans.

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

In the neighboring area to Amako Soubei Manga Gallery, visitors can feel the local history and culture at the rebuilt Amagasaki Castle, and in the Teramachi district in which 11 temples are located. Visitors can also enjoy the distinct, nostalgic atmosphere of traditional downtown while strolling along the vibrant shopping street.
With its historical background as a city of monozukuri (an industrial city), Amagasaki offers some good locations to enjoy factory night views, drawing attention as one of the highlights of night tours.
By train, Amagasaki offers good access to Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto taking about 10 minutes, 20 minutes and 35 minutes to reach them, respectively. It is also located within an hour’s train ride from three airports in the Kansai Region, thereby serving as a strategic tourist hub.
