Sightseeing Spot in This Area

In 2003, the city of Shizuoka merged with Shimizu and other areas in Shizuoka Prefecture, forming the Shimizu Ward. It is known as the home of J.League football team Shimizu S-Pulse. Miho no Matsubara (as pictured), designated one of the New Three Views of Japan as well as a Place of Scenic Beauty, has attracted flocks of sightseers since the Heian Period. From Suruga Bay, you can enjoy the stunning view of Mount Fuji and the Izu Peninsula, which once inspired the ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige in creating his artwork. Don’t forget to visit the “Kashi no Ichi” fish market in Shimizu Port, where you can enjoy fresh and delicious seafood at a reasonable price.
