Sightseeing Spot in This Area

The city of Tokushima in Tokushima Prefecture is famous across Japan for its Awa Dance (as pictured). During the Obon Festival, it attracts an audience of about 1.3 million visitors. The festival reaches its climax on the last day with a powerful final dance, a highlight not to be missed. Mount Bizan, the symbol of Tokushima, boasts a cableway featuring announcements recorded by famous voice artists during the Machi★Asobi event, which is certain to be an attraction for fans. No discussion of local cuisine is complete without mentioning Tokushima ramen. The savory pork broth, cooked with dark rich soy sauce and rich tamari soy sauce, matches seamlessly with the medium-thin noodles and raw egg, and is always a crowd favorite.
