MF GHOST

MFG.
It’s the only motor sport event of fossil-fuel vehicles held in Japan in the near future – a future where those vehicles have been replaced by electric ones around the world. The intense racing battles of outdated, high-powered vehicles are broadcast online worldwide, and enjoy explosive popularity.
A young man from England participates in the MFG race as a challenger. He is Kanata Rivington, or Kanata Katagiri, a next-generation MFG driver who has inherited the spurts and techniques of a legendary man, the fastest on public roads.

Kanata stays with the Saionji family who knows his late mother, and prepares to compete in the MFG race. But his real purpose in coming to Japan is to find his missing father. Kanata starts searching for his father based on a few clues with the help of Ren, a daughter of the Saionji family who falls in love with Kanata at first sight, and acts as MFG Angel No.7 while keeping it a secret from her family.

Kanata chooses to compete in a Toyota 86GT against rivals who drive the world’s most powerful vehicles such as Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Nissan GT-R. How does Kanata defeat his rivals with his lower-powered vehicle? A new legend of the fastest on public roads is about to be written.

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

Odawara, a major city situated in the western part of Kanagawa Prefecture, was a “castle town” of the Gohojo-shi warrior family in the Sengoku period, one of the largest “post towns” along the Tokaido in the Edo period, and a beloved location for politicians, business leaders and cultural elites as a place for their villas and residences in the Meiji period. The anime features Odawara Castle which served as a model for a live broadcast station, the streets which were a model for the racing course of “Odawara Pikes Peak” famous for its “Kamaboko Straight,” “Daruma Ryoriten” and “TOTOCO Odawara” where Kanata, the protagonist, Aiba, a driver from Odawara and other characters visit to dine, and many other real-world locations.
