Jo Kitahara is a trainer at the Kasamatsu Tracen Academy for Umamusume, located in the rural town of the same name. Though he has big dreams, the regional racing scene is very stagnant, and he feels helpless to do anything about it.
That is until one day, when a certain Umamusume appears in the Academy—Oguri Cap. Upon seeing her running with her ashen hair flowing in the wind, Kitahara realizes that his long-awaited star, a racer who will break molds and redefine racing, has finally appeared.
