"Higashimurayama City" is situated in the middle of the Musashino Plateau. The city has become popular as an urban commuter area, and it has vibrant local shopping streets. On the other hand, there are the Sayama Hills to the north-west, and it also has a rich natural environment including rural landscapes. Of particular interest is Kitayama Park, backed by the Sayama Hills, which was selected as one of the 100 Views of New Tokyo for its beautiful seasonal scenery. In early summer, you can see 100,000 hanashobu (Japanese iris) with 8,000 plants of about 600 varieties, and in autumn, the flowering of manjushage (red spider lily).
