ZatsuTabi : That’s Journey

Chika Suzugamori is a university student and aspiring manga artist who has recently won a newcomer manga award. She visits an editorial team of a publisher to present her three storyboards, but all of them are rejected. She returns home in a disheartened mood. Later, when she is feeling stuck in her room, she gets a sudden urge to go on a journey.
Just then, she sees a travel show on the television, in which guests are rolling a die to decide where to visit. She posts a social media poll to ask where she should go on a journey. The poll posted by her with little thought is given surprisingly lots of responses, and she realizes that there is no turning back. Following the poll result, “Up from Tokyo,” she decides her destination and sets off on her unplanned, unprepared journey…

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

Hiroshima Prefecture has two UNESCO World Heritage sites; “Itsukushima Shinto Shrine” (Miyajima-cho) featuring a red-lacquered shrine building and gate, floating in the Seto Inland Sea, and “Genbaku Dome,” the structure remaining in the state as it was immediately after the atomic bomb attack to express a wish for peace to the world . You can enjoy nostalgic landscape in “Onomichi,” a town famous as the setting for various films, and “Tomonoura,” a port town with many photogenic locations. Also, the stunning archipelago in the Seto Inland Sea is known as a sanctuary for cyclists. You cannot miss a variety of local dishes including Okonomiyaki, fresh seafood, and locally brewed sake particularly in Saijo, Higashihiroshima, one of Japan’s greatest sake brewery regions, to name just a few.
