ZatsuTabi : That’s Journey

Chika Suzugamori is a university student and aspiring manga artist who has recently won a newcomer manga award. She visits an editorial team of a publisher to present her three storyboards, but all of them are rejected. She returns home in a disheartened mood. Later, when she is feeling stuck in her room, she gets a sudden urge to go on a journey.
Just then, she sees a travel show on the television, in which guests are rolling a die to decide where to visit. She posts a social media poll to ask where she should go on a journey. The poll posted by her with little thought is given surprisingly lots of responses, and she realizes that there is no turning back. Following the poll result, “Up from Tokyo,” she decides her destination and sets off on her unplanned, unprepared journey…

Sightseeing Spot in This Area

Miyagi is located approximately 300 km northeast of Tokyo, in the central part of the Tohoku region. The terrain of the eastern area facing the Pacific Ocean offers rich fishing grounds and picturesque tourist spots including “Matsushima,” one of Japan’s three most scenic views. In the western part of the prefecture, a series of mountains ranging from Mt. Zao and Mt. Funagata to Mt. Kurikoma show beautiful scenery which is different in each season, and Sendai Plain, one of the major grain-producing areas, stretches out in the central part of the prefecture.
Miyagi is easily accessible from all over Japan. By Tohoku Shinkansen, the fastest train from Tokyo to Sendai takes 1.5 hours. By air, Sendai Airport offers regular domestic and international flights.
